Zaina is driven by a passion for synthesizing small molecules with therapeutic potential. She graduated with high distinction from the Honours Biochemistry (Biomedical Research Specialization) program at McMaster University (2026). Her academic excellence is evident through her consistent placement on the Dean’s and Provost’s Honour Lists and is the recipient of the Governor General’s Academic Medal (Bronze).

She spent two summers as a researcher in the Magolan Lab (2025 and 2026), bookending an 8-month long senior thesis project synthesizing small molecules as anti-acute myeloid leukemia drug candidates. Zaina brings strong experience with medicinal chemistry projects and a deep commitment to bridging laboratory research with clinical impact. She hopes to continue to refine these skills during her time at Block Biosciences as she prepares to begin a direct-entry PhD in May 2027.
